Bio: My name is Heather Colberg and I am Mayor of the beautiful Valley called Drumheller. 

I was born and raised in Drumheller, the community I love. I have been happily married to my high school sweetheart Kelly for 37 years and am blessed with three amazing children: Trent, Taylor and Madison. 

I spent most of my working career alongside my family at Hi-Way 9 Express Ltd. From humble beginnings, my parents – John and Irene Kohut – started the business in 1969 with one truck. As a true family-run business, my brothers, John, Darrell, Dean and I became intimately involved in the company from an early age. I was fortunate to spend many hours working with my family, gaining multiple business, life and people skills in the process. By the time we sold the company in 2011, we were servicing over 70 communities in Alberta and employed over 500 people.  I oversaw the administration for all 4 divisions 

After Hi-Way 9 Express, I applied my entrepreneurial skills by building a decorating company from the ground up in 2013 and sold it in 2017 as a thriving enterprise.  

Following this my daughter Madison and I began a website called HCM Lifestyle that we continue to operate. We love to share inspiring stories and informative blogs to help everyday people. 

I have always been very involved in the community with numerous boards and groups.  My real passion was helping the Salvation Army keep the food banks fully stocked. I organized the first annual One-Night Food Drive Blitz as well as the Stuff the Bus initiative, which both continue to help feed Drumheller and surrounding areas. 

I also contribute to Drumheller’s annual Earth Day Clean-Up. This is so important to me as it is a representation of how we look after our community.  

My daughter and I are authors of children’s books.  We have released one and the other should be out soon.  We are the creators of www.dinoadventures.ca 

I ran for Mayor in 2017 to fulfill a family commitment of giving back to Municipal Politics.  I am now in my second term. 

Our community vision is to be the cleanest, friendliest, most sought after community in Alberta. Every day we strive to reach this Vision. 

It is with this spirit of service and deep connection to the community that I approach my role as the Mayor of Drumheller. Each day is another opportunity to improve the lives of residents and businesses and set the course for a sustainable and prosperous future for generations to come.

Fun Fact: I am grandma to 2 cute dogs  Po is a 2 1/2lb Mulchie and Winston is a French bulldog
