The Herring (PRO)

14x14 Acrylic on Gallery Wrapped Canvas.

Inspired by the marvelous, ephemeral spectrum of reflections off a darting school of herring.  The seemingly small size of this fish is in total contrast to the magnitude of their importance.  This work represents the fragile beauty of this special ecosystem.

Meghan Spence studied painting at Emily Carr University of Art + Design in Vancouver, BC.  Her work is collected around North America and shows regularly in galleries and art spaces throughout the Province.  Her roots are in the Okanagan Valley where she began as a self-taught artist and muralist.  She explores themes at the intersection of human interaction with natural environments, landscape and sense of place.  Her love of the outdoors is often a springboard for her inspiration as well as how she spends her free time.  Meghan creates out of her studio in the Fraser Valley of British Columbia.
