Me, Bamfield and Seaweed

Size: 24"x24"
Medium: Canvas print

My paintings and seaweed pressed prints are a reflection of my personal experiences and have tended to fall into a few different styles.

I use nature as a metaphor in different social contexts.

This canvas print is a Nature inspired art and designs merging between science and art. The seaweeds pressing are delicately arranged displayed dramatic-looking like ink/ water drawing. The seaweeds forage in Pacific West Coast, Bamfield.

The ocean forest are key foundation to many dynamics of species in our ecosystems. We often think seaweed in relation to food. In fact, Kelp and seaweed  forests are foundation species in temperate ocean ecosystems and contribute to carbon storage.

Description: Callophyllis ( Greek= beautiful leaf) are found most likely encounter along the shore and beneath the waves in our Pacific Northwest. Callophyllis plants consist of a miniature holdfast that expands abruptly into one or more vivid blood red to wine red flattened and variously divided blades.
