Meditatitive Reflections 2 (PRO)

This impressionistic painting, captures a “zoomed” impression of a beautiful sunset in a pristine stream within the Great Bear Rainforest. Here is the home of some of the last large non-Arctic wild rivers and one of the world's. Its pristine, waters are home to several endangered fish species (including salmon), invertebrates, the tailed frog among others.

This highly textural abstract painting, where I have applied thick layers of acrylic paint and medium with palette knives, resulting in a 3-D effect, suggesting organic energy, flow and movement. My paintings reflect the scope of imagery as viewed from the vastness of space or through the lens of a microscope.

I use mixed media for its capacity to reach beyond the visual, to more tactile and tangible processes. I curate combinations of materials and techniques to abstract reality, telling a story to elicit an intimate aesthetic and emotional response.
