This beautiful vintage thanka—in dark hues— depicts Shakyamuni Buddha, surrounded by his disciples, in his medicine emanation. The Buddha holds a begging bowl, with the mythical arura plant, an herb that heals all ills. His hands are poised in the mudra of offering medicine. This thanka is pre-framed with silk brocade, and would look great in a conventional wood and glass frame.
