This oil painting was inspired by the Desert Foothills Land Trust Preserves and the many jumping chollas we all encounter when hiking this land. Their fluffy appearance from afar invites you to get closer. They don't really jump but if you get close enough to their shallow roots, the cactus bends toward you, often attaching their barbed spikes to you. They are best viewed from afar
