Exclusive to Modernism Week - An Evening Tour and Dinner for 4 at Richard Rogers' 1967 22 Parkside Residence, Wimbledon/London

A private tour and catered dinner for up to four (4) guests at 22 Parkside, the famed Wimbledon Glass House designed in 1967 by British architect Richard Rogers and his then wife, Su Rogers, for his parents, one his first projects outside of architecture school.  It marked the beginning of his built exploration of ‘inside-out’ structures, a concept that became famous a decade later when he collaborated with Renzo Piano on the Pompidou Centre in Paris. 

You will be met by Lucy Porten, National Senior Curator for the National Trust UK for a private tour of the residence, following which you'll enjoy a lovely catered dinner with wine.

Once a date has been confirmed, a $200 Uber credit value will be authorized to use for transportation within London.  Also included are two out-of-print books, Centre Pompidou: Renzo Piano, Richard Rogers, and the Making of a Modern Monument (Yale University Press, 2016) and A Place for All People: Life, Architecture and the Fair Society by Richard Rogers and Richard Brown (Canongate Books, 2017).  These will be shipped at the conclusion of the auction. 

Richard Rogers, Baron Rogers of Riverside, (1933 -2021) was a British architect noted for his modernist and constructivist designs in high-tech architecture.  He was founder at Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners, previously known as the Richard Rogers Partnership until 2020, then rebranded RSHP after his retirement and death. He was the recipient of the 2007 Pritzker Architecture Prize. 

In addition to the Pompidou Centre, his best known work includes Lloyd’s Building. Heathrow Terminal 5, One Hyde Park, 122 Leadenhall Street (the Cheesegrater), Millennium Dome and 88 Wood Street in London.  Also The Palace of Justice/Antwerp, Madrid-Barajas Airport Terminal 4, International Towers/Sydney, European Court of Human Rights/Strasbourg and Parc1 Tower/Seoul. 

 

Things To Know:

Transportation to London is not included.

This experience is valid for 1 year, expiring December 31, 2025.

Tour and dinner for up to four (4) guests. 

Date for the experience to be set by mutual agreement between the bidder, Rogers Family Trust and the National Trust UK. 

Reservations require a 21 day advance lead time to allow for coordination of all involved.

When requesting date, please provide at least two date options.

Once arrangements are confirmed, no changes are allowed.

No refunds if experience is unused.  Funds paid would then be considered as a 501c3 charitable tax donation for which, upon request, Modernism Week will provide a donation acknowledgment letter stating no goods or services were received.

Winning bidder will receive booking details when action concludes.
