Hope on Horseback offers supervised activities using horses for physically and mentally challenged individuals, at-risk youth, cancer patients, trauma victims and groups seeking teambuilding and leadership training. Classes are designed to encourage personal, social and communications skills. In addition to learning to ride, participants learn to groom, tack and lead horses which builds confidence, self-esteem, and a strong sense of responsibility. Students gain a sense of accomplishment and pride. Utilizing the horse to provide gentle exercise has proven to be effective in building core muscle strength, balance and coordination.
