Spring Snow—Nam Tso (Heavenly Lake)

An 8 x 10 inch Photograph—Tibet: Nam Tso is a brilliant blue turquoise lake, and is one of the largest and most sacred lakes in Tibet, north of Lhasa. The lake has several island that have been used for retreat by pilgrims who walk over the frozen water with enough supplies to remain for a year until they can leave again in next winter. This photographer stayed with a nomad family in a small shelter for several days along the shores of frozen lake. After an intense evening storm, he awoke to this brilliant snow covered landscape.

Don Perrault’s photographs in this auction were created while he was traveling in Nepal and Tibet between 2002-2004. His photographs are used to raise awareness for the people, culture, and landscapes in the region, and for financial support for non-profit initiatives across the globe.
