Antique French Mantel Clock by AD MOUGIN

Antique French ‘AD Mougin” 8 day mantel clock contains an 8 day brass AD Mougin movement that strikes on the hour and singularly each half hour.

AD Mougin was a famous clock maker in Paris from the mid 19th century forward. Mougin was one of the well-respected clock makers of the period and possessed two gold medals from the Paris exhibition. Frame is stamped with the maker’s name and “Deux Medailles” 1652  46-“.

Measures 18” by 13” by 5 ½ “. Case is a heavy black stone, presumably slate with incised decoration. Beveled glass cover.  Weighs 38 pounds.

Clock runs well, though loses 3-4 minutes a week. Adjustment feature at the top of the porcelain clock dial.
