Rare Plant Conservation Field Trip to South Forks Meadows

Put on your hiking boots and join RSABG botanists, Duncan Bell and Cheryl Birker, for a day trip to the San Bernardino National Forest to make conservation seed collections of a number or rare species that are endemic to this area. The South Forks Meadows lie within the San Gorgonio Wilderness, as well as the newly appointed Sand to Snow National Monument. These meadows have stunning views of southern California’s highest peak, Mt. San Gorgonio, and are home to a diversity of species, including many rare plants, some of which are found only here. This day trip for two includes a gourmet picnic and the chance to assist RSABG conserve the rare dwarf checkerbloom (Sidalcea malviflora ssp. dolosa), and for those seeking a little more adventure, the rare pygmy hulsea (Hulsea vestita ssp. pygmaea) at Dollar Lake.  Time to be mutually decided, but trip must occur in July or August of 2019.
