Jason Knight is a multi-award-winning Master Bladesmith with more than 34,000 hours experience. His designs and attention to detail elevate edged weapons to works of art. Known primarily but not only for kukris, bowies, and fighters, Jason has developed a style that is unmistakably recognizable as a “Knight Knife”. He has collaborated with companies stateside and overseas with some of his fixed blade and folder designs.
Walk into his studio and you will enter an adventure in bladesmithing. His anvil has absorbed the blows of many smiths from all over this country, Taiwan, and Belgium. In the summer of 2018 Jason relocated his shop from his hometown in South Carolina to East Tennessee. He continues to teach his craft to rising bladesmiths, makers who want to hone their skill, and those who just want the experience of making a knife start to finish.
Makers’ Forge Studio at Knight Forge Studio
Classes with Jason Knight are informative, creative, and entertaining.
Day 1 – Forging
New makers will learn the basics of forging using a power hammer, press, and hand tools. Advanced makers will learn new techniques based on their skill level. All makers will forge a blade to shape that is 10”to 11” in length and 2” in width.
Day 2 – Grinding and Heat Treating
Makers will learn grinding techniques appropriate for their skill level. Makers will also learn basic techniques for hardening and heat treating.
Day 3 – Handle, Finish, and Sharpening
Makers will learn why certain handle shapes work and how to shape handles. By the end of the third day, Makers will have a complete and fully functional knife.0
