Kapala Damaru: Tibetean Tantric Hand-Drum
This antique damaru is made of the bones of a real skull in the traditional way. This kind of Tantric drum is usually used in combination with a bell during Vajrayana practices. The bell and drum together symbolize the ripening of bodhicitta and sound of great bliss. This drum has obviously absorbed the blessings of much practice!
Our donor obtained this damaru when she was in Tibet, about 15 years ago.
The drum measures about 5 inches across.
