“Poisonality” Matthew Luna

“Poisonality”  Matthew Luna. Sculpture 3.5‘ in length, in position 1.5‘

A western diamond back rattle snake made of aluminum can tabs. Real found snake skin was used in making this piece.  The eyes are turquoise pieces with barbed wire used for the spine.  It is  mounted on an old dart board with Cumbre aluminum cans and Arizona tea cans.  The snake is hand sewn with copper wire for stability.

My name is Matthew Luna. I'm a recycled artist born and raised in Las Vegas, NM. I'm 30 years old and have been doing this type of art for about 5 years. I’m a security guard at the local high school and wrestling coach, which I pride myself in working with young adults.

I started off making small gifts for my sister and family who have supported me in many ways. With that support I've become the person I am today. This journey has not only opened many doors for me, but has helped through many obstacles in my adult life.

I find this type of art and many others to be therapeutic. All which has given me the courage to keep creating.
