"Serendipity” Lin Chibante
"Serendipity” (Modern Quilt) Lin Chibante 57” x 70.5”. 2016
A group I attended was given three base fabrics to “play” with to come up with three block designs. With a few added fabrics, long story short, this stunning aqua and coral/green/gold quilt resulted. It would make a glorious wall hanging or a bright addition to a full-size bed or to sofa dreams. The low-loft batting allows it to drape beautifully and the machine quilting is different on each square.
Lin Chibante lives with her husband, two dogs, a cat and extensive gardens on their ranch in the mountains of northern New Mexico. She loves to write short stories, read, garden and sew. Her retirement from farming and teaching in 2009 allows her to also dabble in art using the media of watercolor and fabric. Ten years ago she discovered quilting and teaches sewing and quilting techniques at Luna Community College in Las Vegas, New Mexico. Her pieces reflect her love and respect for color and craftsmanship.
