Oakmont has hosted more USGA/PGA events than any other golf course in the United States: 8 US Opens, 5 US Amateurs, 3 PGA Championships and 2 US Women’s Opens. It is ranked 5th in the latest Golf Digest Top 100 courses in the United States. Notable moments in Oakmont’s history include: Jack Nicklaus’ first US Open victory in 1962 in a playoff against local favorite Arnold Palmer, Johnny Miller’s stunning 63 to capture the 1973 title and Dustin Johnson’s solid victory in 2016.
