“The importance of education was constantly expressed to me by my parents. They were not privileged to have an education growing up. The books connect us to deeply rooted ideas and allow us to grow our way of thinking, a metamorphosis of the mind”

Artist bio:

Gloria Martinez was born in Guanajuato Mexico. She migrated with her family to the United States where she grew up in Arizona. Through her work she explores her identity as an immigrant.

By using familiar visual symbols, art allows her to explore her feelings.  Her aim is to document her humanity.
