Bio: John Hrehov holds an MFA from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a BFA from the Cleveland Institute of Art. He is a Professor in the Department of Art and Design at Purdue University Fort Wayne (PFW). Hrehov has had numerous solo and group exhibitions throughout the country, including Wood Street Gallery in Chicago, IL; Fort Wayne Museum of Art in Fort Wayne, IN; Gallery Victor Armendariz in Chicago, IL; and Denise Bibro Fine Art in New York, NY.
Awards include the 2021 Recharge New Surrealist Prize from the New York Foundation for The Arts (NYFA). Gladys Emerson Cook Prize in Prints, Drawings, and Pastel, 167th Annual Exhibition from the National Academy of Design, NYC. The Eastman-Bolton Memorial Award, Cleveland Institute of Art. His work has been featured and reviewed in various publications, including Art in America, American Artist Magazine, The Cleveland Plain Dealer, and NY Arts Magazine. He is represented by Gallery Victor Armendariz in Chicago, Illinois, and Denise Bibro Fine Arts, Inc., in New York, NY.

Artist Statement: "I am interested in the images' literal and symbolic content. I will use objects and scenes that are familiar to me from my home and neighborhood. Pictures will often become embellished from memory and imagination. I aim to find and portray the miraculous in the everyday."
