Humming Trio

Medium: Acrylics

I enjoy painting. For many years I only used watercolor paint. Gradually I began experimenting with acrylics and found them to be another great medium to create my art. I was in Harbor Springs, MI one summer. I watched artists in the park by Lake Michigan battling the wind. I really wanted to work outside, but felt restricted by what I knew. There are amazing rocks in Michigan. Many flat due to the waves tossing them about as they come in to shore. Well I knew watercolor paint would not work on that particular stationary object. I went to a local art store and purchased my first set of acrylic paints. I then proceeded to paint rocks. Upon returning home I began working on canvas, and really enjoyed the ability to correct areas which I was not happy with. My grandsons are very fascinated with hummingbirds now, which inspired me to paint them. I was extremely challenged to follow this painting through. The journey often tempted me to paint the canvas over and choose a different subject. I am pleased to say that I did not give up, because so often I do.
