Seth Wescott Signed Jacket

CVA/Sugarloaf Windbreaker Autographed by 2x Olympian Snowboarder Seth Wescott

This Carabasset Valley Academy/Sugarloaf size large windbreaker is autographed by two-time Olympian, Seth Wescott. Seth is one of the top athletes in Maine and this jacket would make a cool gift to any aspiring athlete. Seth's two Olympic Gold Medals were for SnowboardingCross in 2006 and 2010.

The list of accomplishments for this two-time Olympic gold medalist speaks for itself. In 2006 Wescott solidified his spot in snowboardcross history when he became the first man to win Olympic gold in his sport. He repeated the feat in 2010, laying claim to back-to-back Olympic gold medals.

Much more than just a snowboardcross racer, Wescott is an all-around rider (he was a member of the U.S. halfpipe team before switching his focus) who is on a constant quest for first descents on big mountains. Annual spring trips to Alaska's Chugach Mountains, adventures to the Himalayas and southern hemisphere as well as trips to the shores of Costa Rica keep life in perspective.

FIRST TRACKS
On skis by the age of 8, Seth raced for a couple of seasons before getting bored. At 10, he started riding and his skis still sit in his mom's barn where he left them 20 years ago. For a while he split his time between pipe and SBX training, but when he got word that SBX was going to get an Olympic nod, he went nearly full-time to running the mountain fast.

OFF THE SNOW
When he’s not competing or training, Wescott can be found on the golf course, traveling for surf or powder or keeping busy at home landscaping. He's a business partner at The Rack BBQ, a restaurant in Sugarloaf, ME. He also can be found working on projects with Sugarloaf "to help future generations of CVAers get ready to chase after their dreams.” 

“I got more involved in winter sports because as a kid I lived in Rangeley for a year. They had a program in the schools to take students once a week in the winter season to Saddleback Mountain and introduce them to cross-country skiing, downhill skiing, snowshoeing — whatever the kids wanted to do. The school wanted to ensure that the kids got outside and got active. That step that school system took, in that community, changed my life and helped send me on my path that I continue to be on,” said Wescott.

When Wescott moved to Farmington during high school, he discovered a new sport that changed his life. “That’s really where I found my passion for snowboarding. I had been skateboarding since I was six. As soon as I saw someone doing a winter version of it, I wanted to get involved in it. Shortly after discovering snowboarding, I really hoped to become a world-class athlete. That’s when I set that goal for myself.”

I moved to Colorado, for a couple of years to go to college; as much as I loved the mountains out there, in the end there is no place like home. Maine really is a unique and special place with access to rivers, mountains, and the ocean. We have everything here,” said Wescott. “I spend seven to eight months traveling all over the world, training for competitions in places as far away as Japan, South Korea, South America, Europe, or Alaska. For me to be able to come home to Maine and be able to recreate every summer is really where I get my base. I rebuild myself here to be able to go out and compete against the rest of the world. Maine is an amazing natural resource.”
