About the artist and this set:  Wendy Bowen, a long-time Hurley resident, specialized in the construction of fine porcelain models of historic homes in limited editions. She made her first porcelain Hurley stone house replica in 1979 as a sample for the Hurley Heritage Society. It was a “generic” house, not based on any one of the houses in particular. The quality of her work was so good, that the Society commissioned her to reproduce one of the historic stone houses on Main Street. She continued to make 6 more houses for the Society and was also commissioned by the Hurley Reformed church to reproduce the church. Wendy retired in 2000 and stopped making the Hurley houses before all ten of the stone houses on Main Street could be reproduced.
