Our Lady of Lourdes Vintage Devotional Medal

This necklace has an image of  Mary as Our Lady of Lourdes. The title references the Blessed Mother’s apparitions that occurred in Lourdes, France in 1858 to a  young peasant girl named Bernadette Soubirous. She saw a series of visions of a beautiful lady in a grotto near her home. The Lady identified herself as the "Immaculate Conception" and instructed Bernadette to dig in the ground where she discovered a spring of water that was said to have miraculous healing properties. The site of the apparitions quickly became a pilgrimage destination. Today Lourdes is one of the most popular sites of Marian devotion in the world. The feast day of Our Lady of Lourdes is celebrated on February 11th.

Sterling Silver Dimensions: 16-inch chain. Medal approximately 5/8 inch across. An image of Mary is on the other side.
