Novels relate to the world-wide adventures of a young Canadian, Rory MacHugh, raised and trained by a Blackfoot band in the 1790’s and destined by fate to become a sworn enemy of Napoleon Bonaparte until 1821. After the Napoleonic wars MacHugh returned to rejoin the Blackfoot on the western plains until 1835 when misfortune led him south to the Mexican province of Texas and the final love of his life, The Yellow Rose of Texas.

BLACK WAR-BONNET   {1795 – 1798} 245 pages

The 13-year-old Rory MacHugh is captured by a band of Blackfoot in the Cypress Hills and matures to become a successful warrior – until the day he solves a tragic mystery that forces him to rejoin the whiteman’s frontier-world to seek vengeance and justice.

A SECRET OF THE SPHINX   {1798 – 1801} 329 pages

Rory arrives in Britain and begins to experience many new lives – a British sailor, a convict, an Egyptian Mameluke, a Highland soldier and piper, a secret agent, a French Grenadier, and a forbidden lover in an Egyptian court. But most devastating is his encounter with Napoleon Bonaparte, the man destined to plunge the world into war and become Rory’s own personal demon.

THE ASSASSINS   {1803 – 1804}  296 pages

While employed as the bodyguard of a French Count, Rory’s affair with the Duchess of Abrantes lands him in the notorious mountain prison of Bitche. His unique escape embroils him in several assassination attempts against his personal enemy, the Emperor Napoleon, leading to another imprisonment, and his escape by balloon with the world’s first lady-parachutist.

THE FUGITIVES   {1810}  238 pages

During the French invasion of Portugal the 79th Cameron Highlanders Lieutenant Rory MacHugh becomes a fugitive as a result of one of history’s greatest man-made disasters. Along with a small band of survivors and a bewitching and mysterious Spanish widow, he survives to play a vital role in the epic Battle of Bussaco.

ON SECRET SERVICE   {1810 – 1811}  394 pages

While tracking down a beautiful suspected French agent, MacHugh returns to England where he is kidnapped and taken to France by smugglers. There he encounters several famous enemies -- and secrets which send him to a meeting with the soon-to-be-King George IV, and the Duke of Wellington, to bring them advance warning of both wars that will make 1812 famous.

 FIVE TRAILS TO THE YELLOW ROSE OF TEXAS  {1835}    3?? pages

The middle-aged Rory MacHugh (again known as Black War-Bonnet) sets out to avenge the loss of his Blackfoot family, but runs into even more disaster including a deadly enemy from his life of long ago. However, one heavenly stranger; also appears, Emily West, best known to both history and legend as “The Yellow Rose of Texas”.                                 [This novel is not yet published]        

 THE LAST-CHANCERS  {1835 – 1836}  353 pages

Middle-aged Rory MacHugh arrives in the Mexican province of Texas with his love, “The Yellow Rose of Texas”, just in time to become embroiled in the “Texicans’” revolt against Mexico’s dictator, Santa Anna. They both find themselves, alongside several other legendary “last-chancers”, performing vital roles in the famous siege of The Alamo.
