About Martha Terrill

A native Houstonian, Martha J. Terrill studied at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston under a four-year scholarship, attended both the University of Houston and the Parsons School of Design, NYC, where she majored in Fine Arts and Art History. Ms. Terrill was the Curator of Collections at Transco Energy Company, where she instituted the Transco Gallery and the subsequent gallery program, which now operates as the William Tower Gallery. During her twelve year tenure at Transco, she oversaw the purchase of more than 2000 pieces of art, including the multi-million dollar collection of American Master Watercolors which traveled to major museums around the United States and Japan. After leaving Transco, Ms. Terrill spent several years in New York, returned to Houston and was able to pursue her own work full time.

Painting and drawing have been the central focus of Ms. Terrill's work, however, when the subject matter indicates another medium, she will venture to collage, sculpture, assemblage, and installation pieces to interpret the idea. Her work has always been informed by her life experiences, natural materials and the desire to explore the possibilities of various mediums to express those experiences visually.

Her works hang in numerous private and corporate collections in Houston, Dallas, Austin, Los Angeles, New York, and Abu Dhabi, She currently lives in Galveston, TX, where she maintains her home and studio.
