Queen Lenice

THE MODEL: Lenice (Ohio)

Lenice is a 20 year breast cancer survivor.  At the time of diagnosis, Lenice believed that having cancer meant her life would soon be over.  Everntually, her belief in God strengthened and she began to trust Him more.  She made a promise that if God would heal her body, she would do His work whenever given the chance.  Lenice was a soon to be bride, and desired the strength to at least walk down the aisle.  Since completing her treatment, she has become more conscious of decisions regarding her health.  She maintains a healthy diet, routine doctor visits, and a positive attitude.  She takes pride in every part of her journey and is always willing to share her testimoy with others.

ARTIST: Angelia Wilson (North Carolina)

Angelia is an Art Professor for Lees-McRae College and the owner of Let’s Be Artsy! A paint and wine business.  She has been an artist her entire life, displaying and selling her artwork around the world.  Angelia believes art is an inner expression of who we are.  “My art is my passion…within it you will see me!”

CANCER MEETS ART:

The message Lenice wanted portrayed through art is  "My journey with breast cancer did not make me bitter but better.  It came into my life so it had to adjust to my way of living." 

Lenice refused to surrender and fall weak to this disease. As she looks back to the beginning of her journey, she feels joy because she won no matter how many times she experienced weakness, today she is stronger than ever.
