Terra Cotta Vessel, Cusco Peru

This beautiful hand-built, hand-painted Terra Cotta vessel measures 42" high and is being donated by The Desert Foothills Land Trust. The current retail value is $1800.

Seminario Ceramic Studio in Urubamba has been dedicated to the discovery of techniques and designs from ancient Peruvian cultures since 1979. Artisans make each piece by hand, painting with mineral oxides before firing in kilns to preserve this ancient art form and give the pots life in today's modern world. The work is internationally recognized and pieces have been acquired by well-known museums - such as the Field Museum in Chicago. Visitors can tour the workshop-gallery to discover Inca and pre-Inca pottery techniques and even take a pre-booked ceramics class. The city of Urubamba is located in the Sacred Valley of the Incas, Cusco Peru.
