"A Labour of Love" by Janet Muenzberger

This work was a labour of love.  In 1983, my mother died of ALS.  I recall the last part of her to leave us was her mind.  Given our thoughts are pure energy, I believe that transcendence of spirit energy means she lives on in many forms and especially in her children and grand children.  This work represents my mother as a dying tree of life and speaks to process of disintegration of form to where matter eventually returns to its molecular source.  The works centralized design models the traditional tree of life’s symmetry as it depicts the story of my traditional family’s matriarch.  The distribution of energy ‘bubbles’ illustrate kinetic distribution from form to form as the dying process furthers life within our precious earth and universe.  Also embedded is a cross motif to honour my mother’s faith in the creation myth.  Eventually, we all return to our precious mother earth.
