Holly Serving Bowl by TJ Anderson

Holly serving bowl turned “green” meaning it still had a lot of moisture in the wood.  After turning the bowl was set on a kitchen rack allowing it to dry naturally and take on its own final shape.  It is finished in a pure Walnut oil, so it is safe for food.  It measures 13” diameter and 4.5“   high.

I grew up in my father’s custom cabinet shop, so I have been around wood most my life.  I started turning full time about 12 years ago.  It is my passion as well as a great therapy.  My goal with each piece I make is to create something that not only looks good but feels good in the hand.  I turn most of my piece while there is still a lot of moisture in the wood.  After I complete the piece, I place it on a kitchen rack and allow the piece to dry naturally and take on its own unique shape.
