Herring Roe (PRO)

Oil on finished wood panel, 12" x 12", 2020. This original painting was inspired by photographer Ian McAllister's macro images of shimmering herring eggs, ready to hatch. These small by mighty fish are an integral part of the Great Bear Rain Forest ecosystem and must be protected to ensure the well being of the rest of the coastal inhabitants. I was struck by the eggs' gem-like quality, with their intriguing sparkle and iridescent sheen. This ready-to-hang painting was created on a 1 1/2" thick panel, with finished wood edges. It would be a compelling addition to any collection or gallery wall.
