Of Considerable Loss (PRO)

It was a thrill to read that two new Orca calves were born this summer and fall to our resident pod! Most locals know that Orcas in the area are very much in danger from so many different yet connected issues. Our waterways are filled with ships that not only complicate navigation, but cause too much noise pollution. Salmon, that are the main food source for Orcas, are being depleted by astonishing numbers from habitat destruction, polluted waterways as well as diseases spread from commercial fish farms. Because nothing in nature is used for only one purpose, Salmon also feed bears and other animals and also fertilize our forests. EVERYTHING IS CONNECTED! It's beautiful, and scary, and makes me think about every action I take. In this painting I wanted to show the beauty of these coastal connections, and depict a beautiful pyramid of hope for the future where everything is in unified balance. What a beautiful thing to hope for in our future:)
