Charlotte Reine was born in the Loire Valley region of France. Her mother, Gilberte Brillant while an accomplished engraver in her own right, was a mentor for her daughter as well. Charlotte participated in group exhibitions at the age of 20 both in Paris as well as in Nantes, France. Her first one-woman show took place subsequently in Brussels Belgium. Shortly thereafter Lublin Graphics, who introduced her etchings to the American art market in 1979, picked up her work. Lublin went on to publish her etchings and lithographs for the next twelve years and sponsored exhibitions of her work across the United States as well as in Europe, at the Basel Art Fair and the Conciergerie in Paris
