Ursus Arctos (PRO)

"Ursus Arctos", 12x12 inches, acrylic on wood. This original painting was inspired by an image captured by talented Vancouver photographer, Jason Bremner. Battling rainy weather in Bella Coola Jason explored the area for grizzlies and photographed this cute cub fishing for salmon in a local river with its mom. Why have I created a painting to support the Great Bear Rainforest? Because I believe that biodiversity is important and it plays an essential role in the health of our planet. Long ago there was once a vast network of grizzly bear trails, but now the southern extent of the grizzly’s coastal range has been lost to logging, urbanization and hunting. Today, only a few isolated habitats are occupied by grizzlies below the 49th parallel. This is one reason why the Great Bear Rainforest is critically important – it acts as a stronghold for the southern range of North America’s coastal grizzly bear population, supporting Canada’s largest and densest concentrations of grizzlies. But Pacific Wild is dedicated to much more than just grizzlies, they also have conservation programs for wolves, herring, whales, salmon and so much more! Pacific Wild is committed to defending wildlife and their habitat on Canada’s Pacific coast by developing and implementing solution-based conservation strategies to achieve the goal of lasting environmental protection in the lands and waters of the Great Bear Rainforest. You too can help to preserve the Great Bear Rainforest in Canada by placing a bid on my original painting! Let’s work together to ensure this sweet cub and his mom have a strong future full of wild salmon and vast places to roam.
