You and a guest will be invited to join The Jazz Gallery Chairman at his loft at Broadway and 12th Street to share his recollections of 68 Jazz-filled years. Snacks, libations, music and memories will be served. At a time of mutual convenience.
Hank O’Neal bought his first jazz record in 1955 and heard his first jazz concert (the Birdland All Stars on Tour) in 1956. He took his first jazz photographs in 1964, began recording jazz artists in 1966, produced his first record in 1967, taught his first audio engineering classes in 1969, launched his first record company, Chiaroscuro, in 1970, built his first recording studio in 1972 and produced his first jazz concerts the same year, published his first jazz book in 1973 and produced his first jazz festival ten years later. Since that time he has produced over 200 LPs/CDs, hundreds of jazz concerts and festivals, taken many thousands of photographs and published over twenty-five books. His most recent jazz-oriented book, More Than the Music, will be published by the TCU Press in 2024. He is currently on the Board of Jazz Foundation of America, The Jazz Gallery and the New School Jazz and Contemporary Music Department.
