The Roost, Jefe’s Tacos & Tequila, and Smokin Bowls are both owned and managed by the same pair of couples. The Roost started as a nonprofit benefitting people in the midst of the adoption process and has grown into a local favorite for “craft American casual food” and has live music every Friday and Saturday night. Jefe’s Tacos & Tequila is a newer venture by the same set of people but serves, well, tacos and tequila. Smokin Bowls is a fast casual bowl restaurant with an emphasis on fresh, local ingredients highlighting cuisines from around the world. Between The Roost, Smokin Bowls, and Jefe’s street tacos and Mezcal cocktails, everyone will find something that they like from this group of great local eateries! 

Housed in the downstairs of the Dickens Opera House is The Dickens Tavern, which was originally built in 1881 by William Henry Dickens, a relative of the famous author Charles Dickens. When he built the opera house he was one of the largest land owners of the time. The parcel that the building sits on was given to his father by Ulysses S. Grant, the president.
