"Wildflowers" by Zainab Aslam

The story behind the painting I created on my paddle is very important to me. It represents the idea of growing up and trying to hold onto the wonder and wildness within us. For me, wildflowers have always represented adventure and reminded me of my childhood, which are both concepts we try to hold on to for as long as possible. While getting caught up in the complicated aspects of life I always wish I could go back to picking flowers at the park. I want this painting to be a reminder that just as a paddle helps guide the boat, adventure helps guide us in all walks of life.

This paddle was submitted as a solo trek alongside other members of Middlefield Collegiate Institute.
