I have Indigenous heritage on both sides of my family. I wanted to do something inspired by that with a modern twist. In many Indigenous cultures, the bear represents courage and leadership among other things. My bear is making a way, or leading a path through darkness with light.

This paddle was submitted as a solo trek alongside other members of CSCHN.
