4th/5th Grade - Make a beautiful Northern Lights Mobile
Students will get inspired by the beautiful phenomenon of the Northern Lights and will make a functional, spinning mobile. The beautiful artwork can also be set down securely to make a standing, immobile presentation as well. Based on the same technology that makes spool racers move, this mobile can be twisted up while hanging to create an enhanced spinning motion.
In this lesson the students will learn how to draw the Northern Lights, then with the use of black permanent markers will draw animals and trees, afterwards they will add color with colored markers and at the end they will put the whole mobile together with the use of rubber bands and wooden spools.
Students will learn about LINES, MOVEMENT, NEGATIVE SPACE, COLOR and TEXTURE.
This class is appropriate for 4th and 5th grade students. All materials will be provided.
