Crocodile Encounter and Lagoon Tour, Belize
Guided tour for two (2) persons.
Reconnect your senses as we embark on an evening tour of the Placencia Lagoon to unravel the mystery of its top predators, their significance in Belizean culture, and their ecological benefits!
Sink your teeth into conservation by joining the Crocodile Research Coalition (CRC) on a 2-hour boat-based eco-tour. Learn about the connection of the ancient Maya with crocodiles whilst driving through mangrove canals and observing various wildlife.
The tour will stop at CRC's facility, where you will meet our crocodile ambassadors like Gilly and Hamanasi and hear about each of their unique stories. You will then witness how we care for and feed the crocodiles in captive environments in a method that encourages their mental and physical health.
Following our crocodile encounter, we will learn about the history of the Placencia Peninsula and the significance of the Placencia Lagoon to its adjacent communities while enjoying the beautiful sunset over the Maya Mountains from our boat at an area locally known as "Flower Camp Lagoon". We will end the tour by having a boat ride amongst the dense mangrove canals back to Placencia Village.
