The Grade 8 students of KLO Middle School are raising funds for an exchange trip to Veendam, Netherlands in the spring of 2024.

Kelowna citizens have a deep connection with Veendam. An Okanagan regiment of soldiers were stationed in Veendam, at the end of World War II, and lived and stayed with Dutch families for an extended period of time. Veendam citizens continue to celebrate those soldiers as their “liberators”. Kelowna visitors to Veendam have been the beneficiaries of overwhelming hospitality, and return to renew the relationship as often as possible.
