Artist Biography:
Helen was born and raised in Southern Ontario and became an artist at an early age. She was taught and influenced as a painter by David Mitson. Mr. Mitson headed up an Art Commission under Queen Elizabeth II and showed his work at Expo in Montreal. Helen arrived in the Temagami Area in the late 1950’s and has painted the magnificent landscape of this region for years. The subject of most of Helen’s paintings is the northern outdoors, with an emphasis on the magnificent northern wilderness. The scope of her artistic vision is reflected in the titles with which she endows each piece. Helen paints in mixed media, oil and watercolour.
