This art print is reminiscent of the Dutch masters whose life still life painting became the most lavish, most sought-after type. As a subject matter, ancient Greeks and Romans often decorated their homes with depictions of fruit, flowers and other still-life scenes. Later in the course of art history, still-life painting emerged more or less simultaneously in Italy, northern Europe, and Spain in the sixteenth century.
