Description Naming Rights to a 1.2-acre freshwater pond at Coastal Heritage Preserve – Helen and Edward Oppenheimer Bird Observatory! This pond is on the Great Texas Birding Trail, surrounded by bull rush, rattletraps, and other native trees to offer seclusion and solitude to shy ducks, birds, mammals, and turtles. Visitors don’t have to work to view wildlife here as they site in the architecturally significant bird observatory and are frequently rewarded with unexpected bird species. This pond is famous for seeing rarer and less common species of ducks, waders, and hawks on the Preserve throughout the year. During migration, this view can’t be beaten. As, it is a great place to watch for waders, warblers, flycatchers, shrikes, and rails. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dzMzN-HYjO8&t=403s
