Marcel Breuer's Whitney Museum of American Art - New York, NY

Marcel Breur's Whitney Museum of American Art, characterized by its inverted ziggurat profile and bevelled windows is in the process of being transformed by Herzog & deMeuron Architects into the headquarters of Sotheby's. Since the Whitney moved into its new Renzo Piano designed home in West Chelsea, the Whitney has undergone multiple iterations and uses starting with being renamed "Met Breuer" when it was an extension of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and most recently the temporary home of the Frick Museum while its home was undergoing an extensive renovation. The building's interior was recently approved for interior landmark status by New York City.
