Bauhaus Brilliance

Story:  A HGA x POD Collaboration, our Chairity art object is an ode to Retrofuturism. Steeped in nostalgia for the Mid-century decor and Bauhaus art movement, this "pseudo-relic” straddles the line between the past in its design, and the future with the technologies of light and sound.  As if plucked out from a parallel reality, it draws subliminal connections between the Triadic Ballet of Oskar Schlemmer and the panic-inducing radio exploits of Orson Welles.

About the Item:

A pre-owned mid-century cabinet is reborn through a labor of love, as HGA designers, POD,  fabricator, and a local sound artist collaborate to infuse it with the timeless principles of the Bauhaus design movement.

It features Bauhaus inspired plexiglass planes that illuminate in primary colors and a concealed sound component that beckons you to reset your mind and transform a living space into a personal sensory refuge.  The plexiglass planes can also be reconfigured for different playful combinations, and the feature dial is used to adjust the volume of the kinetic sounds.

The luminance feature of this piece is the incorporation of Bauhaus-inspired lighting designed to glow from within in primary colors – red, blue, and yellow. In the hands of our brilliant fabricator Alper Boler of Aparat Design Build, this dynamic play of light accentuates the cabinet's form and infuses any space with a captivating ambiance.

We've collaborated with a talented sound artist Oliver DiCicco to create an innovative sound component. Nestled discreetly within the underside of the cabinet, this piece transforms your furniture into a source of auditory sci-fi exploration.

When plugged in, the "Bauhaus Brilliance" produces a unique symphony of sonic energy that resonates with the spirit of Bauhaus experimentation and creativity.

This re-imagined cabinet is a work of art that serves as an elegant backdrop to any gathering space and provides the audience with a moment of thrilling introspection.
