Kathryn Bleimes, having graduated from The Ohio State University in computer science, worked as a software engineer and CTO of a small online company. Her current works follow decades of dabbling in diverse fields such as flower pressing, basket weaving, needlework, painting, metalwork, jewelry making, and photo restoration. She comes from multiple generations of skilled Ohio folk artists, and currently resides in Worthington, Ohio. She is inspired by nature found in her own backyard and around the world. She creates multi-layered and 3-dimensional assemblages from a variety of repurposed and handcrafted materials. Photographs––primarily taken by her husband of 45 years––form the focal point of many of her stationery and mixed media works. These works layer photos and hand-pressed botanicals among elements ranging from artisan paper to simple paper dinner napkins.
