From Frank Sinatra’s Villa Maggio – A Set of 8 Lenox USA “Solitaire” Fine Bone China Footed Ivory Demitasse Cups and Matching Saucers w/Platinum Trim c. 1970s

Just imagine Frank Sinatra and his friends having after-dinner coffe around the dining table.  Wouldn’t you love to have overheard the after-dinner conversations when expresso was served?  Or know who the celebrities and friends were who enjoyed an afternoon expresso using this set over the years?  Thoughts that certainly enhance the value quotient of what otherwise would be a just a normal set of bone china!

From Frank Sinatra’s mountain retreat high above Palm Desert, Villa Maggio, is a set of eight (8) “Solitaire” Lenox USA Ivory fine bone china footed demitasse cups 2.5” high with platinum trim & handles, and matching set of eight (8) Lenox USA fine bone china saucers 5” round with platinum trim, c. 1970s.  

This set of fine bone china was left at the residence following the sale of the property in 1997 to the current owners.  The private estate was built on 7.5 acres of land off Highway 74.  This secluded mountain retreat is a rustic midcentury lodge style designed home by the builder/designer Patten & Ross.  Mentioned numerous times in Barbara Sinatra’s book Lady Blue Eyes, My Life with Frank, was Sinatra’s favorite getaway where he could just be Frank.

All items are in perfect condition, except for one of the demitasse cups, which does have a slight chip on the rim, as can be seen in the photograph. 

Online pricing for replacements sets of “Solitaire” Footed Demitasse Cup & Saucer by Lenox is around $40 for each demitasse cup/saucer set, total $320.  This set of eight (8) demitasse cups/saucers, however, has a provenance that’s priceless. Go for it!
