Three-day guided visit to Marfa, West Texas Art Mecca
Enjoy a three-day guided visit for two to Marfa, the art and culture mecca located deep in the sublime Chihuahuan Desert of West Texas. After you arrive in Marfa, Pat Meckfessel (Marfa resident and working artist) and Bob Meckfessel (part-time Marfa resident and Docomomo US Board member) will guide you to the leading art destinations in Marfa, including the collections and installations of the renowned Chinati and Judd Foundations.
Other highlights will include visits to local galleries, Prada Marfa, the Marfa Lights, dining and drinks at leading restaurants and watering holes, as well as free time to shop, relax, and enjoy the unique West Texas vibe.
Included in the package are three nights at the mid-century modern Thunderbird Hotel, lunch, dinner, and drinks for three days at a variety of restaurants and bars, and admission fees to the Chinati and Judd Foundation venues. The successful bidders are responsible for getting themselves to and from Marfa. Exact itinerary is subject to opening status of various venues, including the foundations, hotel, and restaurants, and will be coordinated with the successful bidder. While in Marfa, bidders with a few extra days may want to check out other offerings of the region, including Big Bend National Park, McDonald Observatory, Fort Davis National Historic Park, Terlingua Ghost Town, the Hill of James Magee, and more. These are not included in the auction package, but the Meckfessels will be glad to advise on an expanded itinerary.
