Perseus, the son of Zeus, is the slayer of the Gorgon Medusa and the rescuer of Andromeda from a sea monster. He symbolizes bravery and exceptional combat skills.
Bio: Ales Pancner, a European-born artist, studied at LSU under Professor Kubiček and Pavel Vaurys, winner of the UNESCO Art Competition in Paris in 1989 and the Pinacoteca de Estado in São Paulo, Brazil.
Artist Statement: "I am a painter and sculptor. I love pigment, stone, wood, bronze, and anything else I can create with. To me, it’s a celebration of life itself—I could not live without it."
