Sponsor a Benefit Chamber Orchestra Performance of Mahler’s Symphony No. 4

At a major Madison area concert venue (location TBD), Music Director Kyle Knox will conduct a WYSO benefit concert featuring a unique 30-player chamber arrangement of Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 4.   The ensemble will be a mixture of WYSO artistic staff (including Kyle’s wife Naha Greenholtz) and select students from WYSO's Youth Orchestra.

This particular arrangement, done in the early 1910's under the supervision of Arnold Schoenberg, reduces Mahler's original 'super-sized' orchestration into a relatively intimate 30-person ensemble. This is a magical, though underperformed, work by one of history's greatest composers; this is a rare opportunity to present it to the Madison public in an innovative way.
