CELEBRATION
Artist: Linda Blakney
Medium: Oil on metal
32" x 32"
Linda Blakney maintains a working studio in Brantford. She is currently a faculty member at DVSA and also teaches at the Glenhyrst Art Gallery of Brant. Her work continues to be influenced by an early career in medical imaging where images have meaning, but are slightly obscured.
She currently works as a psychotherapist and career coach; this too has a strong influence on the direction of her artwork. Ideas of personal struggles, conflict and resilience are underlying themes.
Artist’s Statement
In this piece, I am trying to create a form of harmony by using discordant colours. Much like the current debates over diversity, it drew my mind to how do I express what our multicultural world should look like.
